Settings
There are not many different settings in this story. Gustave and his family stay at a few different cities in France, but besides that, there are no other places mentioned in the story other than when they leave for America in one of Portugal's boating docks. They originally lived in Paris, but left because of threats happening in other parts of Europe and for other multiple safety reasons. They then move to Saint-Georges-sur-Cher, which is a small town where many Catholics live, which is surprising for the Beckers' because they are Jewish and everyone else might blow their cover. Obviously, Paris is huge, as it is the capitol of France, but Saint-Georges-sur-Cher is very small and probably had only a few thousand families. This small town had some mountain ranges, and had semi-modern buildings for that time era. Below are some scenes that may have looked like the towns described.
